Global Citizen Scholarship
Here at EF, our goal has always been Opening the World Through Education. And our Global Citizen Scholarship Fund is designed to make that happen for more students than ever. Our needs- and merit-based scholarship awards $1,000 to as many as 100 students from around the country. That’s up to $100,000 in scholarships every year to help students discover the world—and their place in it.

What is the Global Citizen Scholarship Fund?
The Global Citizen Scholarship Fund is a needs- and merit-based scholarship for students enrolled on an EF 2021 tour.
How much is awarded and how many scholarships are available?
EF is awarding up to 100 students $1,000 scholarships—up to $100,000 in total to 2021 travelers.
When does the application period open? When does it close?
The application period for our 2020 Global Citizen Scholarship has closed. This year’s scholarship application period opens on February 15, 2020 at 9am EST. Application deadlines vary based on travel dates. Make sure to check your travel dates below.
What are the eligibility requirements of the scholarship?
Applicants must be enrolled on an EF Educational Tour traveling between January 1, 2021 and December 31, 2021
Applicants must submit their family income and household size
Applicants must submit a 2 to 3-minute video answering this question: How will this tour change the way you think or feel about the world, or act within it?
How will my submission be graded?
Your submission will be graded based on our Global Citizen Scholarship Rubric. Each submission will be reviewed by members of the EF Educational Tours team.
What if I have already passed my final payment date?
If you have already passed your final payment date you will receive a refund for $1,000, if you have paid in full. If you are enrolled in the automatic payment plan, your payments will automatically recalculate and lower. If you win, the scholarship will be applied a week following the announcement.
What do I do if I still have to cancel?
If you cancel then you will not receive the $1,000 in scholarship money and you will not be eligible to apply again until the following year.
Can this be applied to any tour at any time?
This scholarship is applicable to any EF Educational Tour, including Global Leadership Summits, with a departure date in 2021. Any traveler on a tour that is departing between January 1, 2021 and December 31, 2021 can apply.
Why do I need to select my family’s income level?
Our Global Citizen Scholarship Fund is a needs- and merit-based scholarship, which means our winners are selected based on their video submissions and family income.
Can I apply if I am related to the Group Leader?
Yes, you can still apply.
Can I apply if I am receiving a prorated spot?
Yes, you can still apply.
